Tamped Cover Sports Ground
GELSENROT®-Tamped Cover Sports Ground
... Care tips for winter
During winter use, the tamped cover is subject to extreme stress. There is a large danger of secondary damage; it arises almost always in connection with freezing and thawing alternations. Then, caution is required, particularly for newly created and renovated tamped areas.
The following rules always apply:
- Severely thawed grounds must not be played on. Temporary grounds lockout!
- Level before reuse and roll thoroughly.
- Attention!! For grounds which were established before the winter, but used in the spring for the first time:”Before the first commissioning, level it again and roll with a 1.5 ton roller; repeat the operations.“
Commissioning and initial care of tamped areas
Proper handling from the outset secures the expected good playing properties and long-term value preservation. Summery weather conditions, with persistent dryness, with strong solar irradiation and high temperatures, require special care measures:
- Keeping the court cover moist
- Sustainable, penetrating irrigation
- Afterwards, make sure that a moist state is retained, and from now on smaller amounts of water are sufficient to be supplied, best of all during the evening or night hours
- If necessary irrigate briefly immediately before use, due to dust formation
Levelling
After each game or training, level the court with the levelling rack (levelling mat).
Rolling
In the early days, roll 1 - 2 times weekly with sidewalk roller of 1.2 - 1.5 t weight. The rollers are mandatory, if necessary one can manage with an agricultural pull roller, weighted down with weights or filled with water.
Approach
First, irrigate thoroughly with water, briefly allow surface to dry, afterwards roll all over with the roller.
Recommendation for use
For the time being and if possible, carry out training with sneakers (without studs).
Note
Tamped areas are water-bonded, mechanically stabilised covers.
